Andy Cook

Andy Cook (1986-88), a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, signed with Bobby Kilpatrick's Tiger baseball squad in 1986 and became one of the more successful pitchers in school history.
During his freshman season (1986), Cook appeared in 17 games, posting a 7-3 record with 55 strikeouts in helping the Tigers to just their third 40-win season in school history.
In 1987, the 6'5” right-hander played in 15 contests, working 72.1 innings.
Cook's junior campaign, which would be his last as a Tiger, would catch the attention of numerous professional baseball teams. Pitching in 19 games, Cook worked 111.2 innings, striking out a career-best 56 batters. He won 10 games for the Tigers in 1988 and finished his collegiate career with a 21-15 record, 160 strikeouts and a three year ERA of 4.36.
Following the 1988 season, Cook was selected in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees and made his way through the minor leagues to the Yankees.
Following his professional career, Cook returned to Memphis and began a career in the banking industry.
