The Memphis Athletics trademarks and licensing team works to protect and promote the names, logos, and graphics that represent Memphis Athletics.
These marks are protected through federal and state trademarks and ensure that outside entities do not use the marks without a license. Licensing is the granting of rights to a third party that desires to associate itself commercially (for profit and not for profit) with an institution through the use of trademarks, names, logos, symbols, and slogans.
The University of Memphis owns the trademarks and icons and has contracted with The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to aid in protecting, managing and developing Memphis' brand.
A license must be obtained by anyone who wishes to use the names or icons of Memphis Athletics. Licensing protects the institution's names, reputation and image by permitting only appropriate uses and assuring that only quality products are associated with the institutions.
To apply for a license, which will then be reviewed and approved or denied by Athletics and/or University staff members, please use the link below. Additionally, to view the Athletics Brand Standards, CLICK HERE.
