Beth Walthal Harrelson, a native Memphian, joined the Lady Tiger golf team after initially enrolling in the University as a volleyball player. A graduate of Briarcrest High School, she had excelled in volleyball, basketball and track, as well as golf during her prep career. She tried out for the Lady Tiger golf team in 1984 and played for head coaches Lynn Parkes and Sally Andrews for three years. Looked on as a team leader in 1985-86, Harrelson helped her Lady Tiger golf team win the Metro Conference Championship. After graduating with a degree in Journalism, she won the 1987 Memphis area Women’s Golf Association tournament and the Double Eagle Golf Tournament. She was a medalist in the 1988 Tennessee State Tournament and joined the Futures Tour that same year. Harrelson, who served as a teaching professional in Memphis and Arizona, was hired as the Lady Tiger golf coach in 2009.
