Ed Weldon
- Induction:
- 2000
Ed Weldon enrolled at the University of Memphis after graduating from Osceola High School in Arkansas. He played for Billy J. Murphy from 1960 through 1963 and was part of perhaps the greatest dynasty in Tiger history.
Weldon starred as a strong safety and a wingback and will be long-remembered for his pass interception in the end zone against Ole Miss to preserve the 0-0 tie in 1963.
He helped the Tigers post a 33-5-1 record during his tenure, including an undefeated season in 1963.
After graduation, Weldon went to work for Kraft/Humko in Memphis and was soon named sales manager. He retired after 25 years with Kraft/Humko and opened his own business, Fishing Adventures Guide Services in Tunica, Miss.
Weldon has four children, Keith, Bridgette, Trey and Wendi and five grandchildren.
