Frank Snyder came to then Memphis State University in the fall of 1959 to play basketball for former head coach Bob Vanatta. A native of Chico, California, Snyder played forward for the Tigers for three seasons and helped the compile an overall record of 53-15. In his first season of eligibility, the forward scored 222 points in 23 contests played. He averaged 9.65 points per game and grabbed 156 rebounds. The Tigers finished the season with a 18-5 record and an invitational to the NIT in New York. During the 1960-61 season, Snyder tossed in 283 points, averaging 12.3 points per contest. He added 129 rebounds in helping the Tigers to a 20-3 record and another invitational to the NIT at Madison Square Gardens. During his senior season, Snyder averaged 11.4 points per game during his 21 games played. For the third consecutive season, Memphis received a bid to post season play, this time to the NCAA Regional in Dallas, Texas. Snyder scored 739 career points for the Tigers and was credited with 425 rebounds.
