Jerry Todd
- Induction:
- 1998
Jerry Todd, a native of Heber Springs, Arkansas, came to the Tigers in 1967 and played for former head coach Billy J. Murphy. A prep quarterback, Todd was moved to defensive back and would become a part of perhaps the greatest secondary in Memphis history. As a junior, he intercepted 11 passes and finished the season as the nation’s second leading intercepter. He received All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in 1968, was named to the Southern Living’s All-South Team in 1969 and was selected to play in the All-American Bowl in 1970. Todd was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the spring of 1970. He is still ranked first in interceptions in a season and second in career interceptions at The U of M.
