Otis Jackson arrived at then Memphis State from Bolton High School in 1978 and immediately became an impact player for the Tigers. As the starting point guard he averaged 10.9 points per game as a freshman and raised that total to 12.1 points per game as a sophomore. He finished his four year career with 1,154 points and is the 17th ranked all-time leading scorer in MSU history. Jackson is ranked third in assists in a game with 13 versus Saint Louis University in 1982. He is also ranked fourth in career assists with 498. In the category of steals, Jackson is ranked eighth for a single season with 71 and third for career steals with 206. Jackson, who played in 111 games during his career, was named to The Sporting News All-America Team in 1982, as well as being named to the All-Metro Conference team for four years.
