Richard Eller was a member of the Tiger golf team in 1967 and 1968 and helped lead coach Roy Moore’s team to some of its finest moments. In 1967, Eller led the Tigers to the Missouri Valley Conference championship. The team won the title with a 54-hole total score of 206. During that same season, the Tigers placed second in the LSU Invitational and fifth at the Cape Coral. In 1968, Eller helped his teammates to an 8-0 regular season record. The Tigers won three tournaments, including the Sunkist Tournament, the LSU Invitational and the Buckhault Intercollegiate., as well as individual matches against Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama and Washington. He went on to an outstanding amateur career after graduation from Memphis. He twice won the Tennessee Open, 1971 and 1977 and served as the Director of Golf at Wind Tree Golf Club in Nashville.
