Skip Wolfe was a guard from 1957-60 under former head coach Bob Vanatta. Wolfe, who grew up in New Haven, Missouri, helped lead the Tigers to some of their greatest basketball moments in school history. He played in 17 games during his freshman year and averaged 10.7 points per game, scoring 182 points on the season. In his second campaign as a Tiger, Wolfe scored 214 points for a 9.3 point per game average. As a junior, the speedy guard upped his scoring average to 12.3 points per outing and finished the season with 282 points and a post season trip to the NIT in New York. He would lead the team to and participate in two NIT tournaments during his career at Memphis. As a sophomore, Wolfe’s Tigers posted a 17-6 record and improved that record to 18-5 after his junior campaign. Memphis registered a 20-3 mark during his final season. Wolfe averaged 13.6 points per game as a senior. He totaled 919 points in his career averaging 10.7 points per game.
