Stan Davis
- Induction:
- 1998
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Stan Davis graduated from Manassas High School before coming to The University of Memphis. Before he left the U of M, Davis had become one of the South’s most outstanding offensive football players. Working as a receiver and kick returner, Davis’ name still is found throughout the Tiger record book. He has the school’s fifth longest kickoff return (94 yards), is ranked 9th in receiving yardage (1,105) and 8th in number of receptions (79). He led the Tigers in receiving in 1971 and 1972 and was the leading kick returner. For his play, Davis was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference team in 1971 and to the All-South Team in 1972. He was selected to play in the North-South All-Star game in 1972 and was drafted that spring by the Philadelphia Eagles (1973-74). He also played for one season with the Jacksonville Express of the WFL.
