Tigers Shutout Central Arkansas In Midweek Contest

Mariah Nichols and Bayleigh Wisher combine for fourth shutout of the season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Regan Hadley's RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth inning proved to be the difference in the game as the University of Memphis softball team pulled away with a 1-0 victory over Central Arkansas Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers improve to 9-9 on the year after the midweek victory.

There were a combined eight hits in the contest, led by Memphis' five. In addition to Hadley, Gracie Morton, Sara Ann Davidson, Ryleigh Aungst, and Jessie Lamb all tallied hits in the win.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Gracie Morton led the inning off with a line drive up the middle, earning the Tigers their first hit of the afternoon. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt, Hadley drove Morton in with an RBI-single up the middle. The single score proved to be the only one necessary, as the Memphis defense held strong in the shutout effort.

The Sugar Bears threatened in the fifth inning, loading the bases with two outs, but Bayleigh Wisher came in to pitch and kept Central Arkansas from getting on the board.

Mariah Nichols earned the start against the Sugar Bears and went 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. She earned the victory and improved to 3-4 overall while Wisher was credited with her second save of the season. Â
