May 17, 2022 | General, Memphis Athletics Fund
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Athletics has announced the hiring of Duvante Lane as Director of Leadership Giving. Lane will be tasked with soliciting gifts for Memphis' priority projects and assisting with the strategic direction of the Tiger Leadership Circle.
Â
Lane is the latest addition to a growing Tiger Scholarship Fund staff that also includes Assistant Director of Development Events and Stewardship Emily Hagans. Hagans is instrumental in planning and executing unique donor opportunities such as traveling with Tiger teams, golf outings, social hours, receptions and many more. She also leads the Memphis Athletics Staff Engagement Committee, designed to foster relationships among athletic department staff members and families.
Â
With Hagans' expertise, The Tiger Scholarship Fund has been able to launch and grow the Tiger Leadership Circle due to the exclusive experiences its members enjoy.
Â
"Emily has made a huge impact on our donor stewardship since she joined our department last fall," Memphis Associate Athletic Director for Development Blair DeBord said. "She is consistently bringing new ideas to the table, and she has quickly fostered outstanding relationships in our athletic department and community and is always willing to lend a hand."
Â
"We are also incredibly excited for Duvante to join our team," Memphis Assistant Athletic Director for Leadership Giving Taylor Sanderson said. "His breadth of experience across development, marketing and the business office, along with his experience as a former football student-athlete, will make him a great fit for Memphis Athletics."
Â
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the Memphis family," Lane said. "The culture and vision for the future are exciting, and I'm thrilled to get to work and join the Tiger Scholarship Fund in making an impact on the lives of our student-athletes."
Prior to Memphis, Lane served as Assistant Director of Business Operations at the University of Maryland from 2021-22. Prior to that, he spent time as Development Assistant at the University of Tennessee and Development and Marketing Assistant at Butler University.
Lane earned his bachelor's degree in Human Movement and Health Science Education from Butler in 2017, where he was an all-conference running back for the Bulldogs. He earned his master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Indianapolis in 2021 while working as a graduate assistant in compliance and business operations. Lane also participated in the NCAA's Emerging Leaders seminar and was a member of the Black Student Leadership Institute at the University of Indianapolis.
