Memphis: 4, Tulane: 1
WP: Dalton Fowler (3-3)
LP: Chandler Welch (4-4)
SV: Blake Wimberley (2)
How it happened:
- Fowler issued a leadoff walk to SS Gavin Schulz in the first, and the Green Wave turned it into a run with a stolen base, sacrifice bunt, and an RBI groundout, as Tulane led 1-0 after one frame
- Memphis' pitching staff allowed just five more baserunners over the final eight innings
- The Tigers tied the game in the second, as CF Zach Wilson tallied his fourth home run of the year, which tied the game 1-1
- The game remained 1-1 until the top of the fifth inning, when RF Braden Webb put Memphis in front for good with a two-out solo home run, his first of the year, that gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead
- After RHP Michael Massey departed due to an injury in the eighth, RF Teo Banks came in to pitch and he surrendered a two-run, two-strike, two-out double to Wilson, which made it 4-1 Memphis, the eventual final
- After 4.1 innings from Fowler, LHP Daniel Casto retired both batters he faced, while Wimberley retired 12 of the 13 men that he faced as he closed out the Memphis win
Notables:
- Webb (3-4) recorded his fourth consecutive multi-hit game and is 10-16 (.625) over that stretch, all Memphis wins
- With three RBIs, Wilson matched his season high, his fourth multi-RBI game of the season
- C Brennan DuBose (1-4) extended his hit streak to a season-high six games, while SS Ben Brooks (BB) has reached base in 16 straight contests
Up Next:
- Memphis and Tulane will meet in the regular season finale Saturday, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
- The teams will then head to Clearwater, Fla. for the AAC Tournament, which gets underway Tuesday
