MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In a game that was much more competitive than the final score, the Memphis Tigers (21-24, 5-13) trailed 2-0 after half an inning and trailed just 4-1 after seven frames before the East Carolina Pirates (30-18, 14-4) scored 11 times over the final two innings in a 15-1 victory that earned the Pirates the series sweep and kept them atop the AAC standings.

How it happened:

For the second straight day, the Tigers trailed before they took their first at-bat, as the Pirates used three two-out hits to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first
Memphis answered in the home half of the first, as SS Ben Brooks connected on his third home run of the season, which pulled Memphis within a run trailing 2-1 after one inning
The Pirates got a run in the third on a sacrifice fly and another in the fourth on an error, as the visitors led 4-1 after 3.5 innings
Neither side mustered many scoring threats until the eighth, where East Carolina turned a tight 4-1 contest into a blowout
In the eighth, the Pirates sent 11 men to the plate and scored six times to jump in front 10-1
East Carolina batted around again in the ninth, as five more crossed the plate, which made it 15-1 Pirates, the eventual final

Notables:

Brooks (2-4) tallied his 15^th multi-hit game of the season, tied for the most on the team
LF Ian Bibiloni (HBP/BB) extended his on-base streak to 19 games, while Brooks has reached in 10 straight contests

Up Next:

The Tigers will play their final regular season home game Tuesday, with first pitch vs. Arkansas State set for 6 p.m.
Memphis will play the final two weekends of the regular season on the road, with a trip to Cincinnati May 13-15 and to Tulane May 19-21 before the conference tournament in Clearwater, Fla. May 23-28
