MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis athletic department has announced a record-breaking fundraising year totaling $24.3 million in philanthropic and ticket-related giving and pledges in 2021-22.
Â
"We are incredibly appreciative of so many in Tiger Nation sharing our vision and helping support our student-athletes and programs," Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "These donations make real, tangible impacts on the lives of our student-athletes and help position us for ongoing successes. The continued support of our fan base is not something we take for granted, and we are thankful so many say 'yes' to our student-athletes."
Â
Highlights of Memphis' fundraising year include:
Â
Along with impacting Memphis student-athletes through academic and athletic support, donations help fund multiple facility and improvement projects touching numerous Tiger sport programs. Projects currently underway include construction of the new Leftwich Tennis Center, renovations at FedEx Park Avron Fogelman Field, improvements to the volleyball Finch Center, and videoboard additions at Elma Roane Fieldhouse and at venues on the Park Avenue Campus.
Â
"I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our generous donors who continually go above and beyond in supporting Memphis student-athletes to excel in the classroom and in competition," Memphis Executive Associate Athletic Director for Administration Adam Walker added. "We have a tremendous development staff, and this is a reflection of their hard work combined with our passionate Memphis fanbase."
Â
"We look forward to continuing this momentum into the upcoming year as we turn our attention to completing fundraising for the Student-Athlete Success Center and beginning to fundraise for our stadium renovation at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium," Memphis Associate Athletic Director for Development Blair DeBord said. "Thank you to our donors for making us a priority!"
