Twenty Memphis Student-Athletes Graduate over Weekend, Nine with Honors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Twenty Memphis Tiger student-athletes participated in fall commencement ceremonies at FedExForum Sunday, with nine graduating with honors.

The 20 student-athletes represent six different sport programs. Degrees conferred include finance and real estate, biology, accounting, and biomedical engineering and mathematical sciences, among others.

"Congratulations to our fall graduates on this outstanding achievement," University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "One of the hallmarks of our mission is to support our student-athletes on their path to graduation, and it is always exciting to see the work that they put in, alongside their support systems, coaches and our academic staff, come to fruition. We are looking forward to seeing what is next for these fine student-athletes."

Additionally, in the NCAA's latest Graduation Success Rate report for the most recent 2016 cohort (2013-16), which calculates the rate at which student-athletes graduated within six years, Memphis' overall 93 percent GSR is above the Division I average of 90 percent in addition to ranking third in the American Athletic Conference. Memphis has now recorded a department GSR of at least 93 percent in four-straight cohorts (2013-16).
