JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Memphis softball team recorded their first win of the season as they split day one of the JU/UNF Invitational. The Tigers defeated Bethune-Cookman, 2-1, in game one before falling to Jacksonville University, 6-2. The Tigers move to 1-5 on the season.
 
Game One: Memphis 2, Bethune-Cookman 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Memphis struck first with Kendall Lee hitting the Tigers' first homerun of the season in the top of the fourth inning over the fence in left-center field.
• BCU tied the game back up in the bottom of the fifth inning, on an RBI single off the bat of bat of Jordyn Villanueva.
• Zoe Adebayo reached on an error in the top of the sixth, leading to Meagan Chism crossing home and putting the Tigers up by one on the play.

NOTABLES
• Five Tigers recorded hits - LaNya Bates, Madison Berner, Presley Morris, Lee and Chism.
• Rylee Dugar got her first win of the season, allowing only one hit while striking out three.

Game Two: Jacksonville 5, Memphis 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Dolphins went up first, as Alison Carter hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second inning.
• JU added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch and a two-run double from Victoria Rodebaugh.
• Aliana Zavala got the Tigers on the board in the top of the seventh with a two-run homer.

NOTABLES
• Hallie Siems recorded seven strikeouts.
• Linsey Hargis, Zavala and Lee recorded hits in game two.
• Lee stole third in the top of the seventh after hitting a double up the right field line.

• The Tigers will compete in their second day of the JU/UNF Invitational. Memphis will face off against Cleveland at 2:30 p.m. and North Florida at 4:30 p.m.
