GREENVILLE. N.C. – The Memphis softball team fell game one against ECU, 4-2, on Friday night. The Tigers (7-33) dropped an early lead as the Pirates capitalized off errors and runners on base.

"Softball is a game of adjustments and we continue to stay with the process looking to get better and improve with every game." Said head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro. "We shot ourselves in the foot a few times tonight, but we are going to continue to stay with the process, like I keep saying, and keep looking to improve with each pitch and at bat."

HOW IT HAPPENED

•       Memphis got on the board first as Sam Ibison rounded the bases off a single through center field by E'mya Munford in the top of the first inning.
•       The Tigers kept the Pirates from advancing to second as Emma Ponder threw to Linsey Hargis, catching the runner for the third out in the bottom of the first.
•       Madison Berner tallied homerun number three on season as she smashed a ball over the left field wall in the top of the fourth inning.
•       ECU scored its first run of the game as Chamberlain singled to center field, sending Sawyer in for the run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
•       ECU reached home on a fielder's choice as Edwards sent the ball the center allowing Kila to score for the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth inning. ECU added another run as Edwards crossed home on a sacrifice fly by Alonso.
•       The Pirates put another run on the board as Chamberlain hit a homerun over center field in the bottom of the sixth inning.

NOTABLES

•       Rylee Dugar got the start going 6.0 innings recording three strikeouts.
•       Berner went 1-for-3 with one homerun, Munford went 1-for-2 with one RBI and Ibison recorded one run for the Tigers.
