INDIANAPOLIS – Memphis women's soccer received a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Division I Women's Soccer Committee announced on Monday afternoon's Selection Show. The Tigers will host Illinois (13-5-2, 5-4-2 Big Ten) on Saturday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Track and Soccer Stadium on South Campus.
It marks the fourth time in five seasons Brooks Monaghan's crew has reached the NCAA Tournament, and the 13th time overall. The committee seeds one through eight, with 32 teams hosting the round of 64. There will be eight sites to host the second and third rounds scheduled for November 20th and 23rd, respectively.
Memphis heads into the national tournament with a 16-0-3 record, the only undefeated team in the nation. They won the American Conference regular season for the third consecutive season but fell in the tournament semifinals via penalty shootout. Their non-conference slate was highlighted by a victory over No. 1 seed Vanderbilt and a draw against No. 3 seed Tennessee, who are both in the bottom-left bracket.
The complete bracket with first round dates and times can be found above. Ticket information, as well as a detailed breakdown of the Tigers' match with the Fighting Illini, will be released later in the week.
