No. 3 Tigers, Roadrunners Battle for Spot in American Conference Final
Nov 05, 2025 | Women's Soccer
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – No. 3 Memphis women's soccer is set for its sixth American Conference semifinal in seven years, a Thursday night showdown with UTSA at 7:00 p.m. at Premier Sports Campus.
The Tigers (16-0-2, 9-0-1 American) won their quarterfinal matchup against East Carolina, 1-0, courtesy of an 87th-minute header from Ashley Henderson. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ and follow the Rice-South Florida semifinal.
UTSA (9-5-5, 4-3-3 American) earned its spot in the conference's final four by defeating UAB, 2-1, on Monday night thanks to goals from Michelle Polo and Aaliyaiah Durden. They were second in the table for most of the season, the closest challengers to Memphis before faltering late in the year against the Tigers, Tulsa and East Carolina.
Four Roadrunners were named to the All-Conference teams earlier this week: Kameron Kloza was selected to the conference's first team, goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler was named to the second team, Zoё May was named to the third team and forward Brooklyn Bailey to the All-Freshman team. Derek Pittman is in year eight at the helm for UTSA, the winningest coach in Roadrunners history with 63 wins.
Memphis and UTSA have played three times in history, in each of the past three regular seasons. The Tigers have won all three matches, but only by a combined score of 4-0. Earlier this year, they were victorious on the road against the seventh-largest crowd in UTSA history, thanks to goals from Elise Perron and Evelyn Mackay.
