Memphis Athletics Announces 52nd Class of M Club Hall of Fame Inductees

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis athletics department and M Club, the official letterwinners' organization of Memphis Athletics, will welcome four Tigers into the Hall of Fame on Friday, April 17, in its annual induction ceremony inside Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex on Park Avenue Campus. The 2025 class will be presented to fans on Saturday, April 18 at the Memphis Football Spring Event at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
The M Club will also honor six special award winners:
Anthony Miller
Football | 2013-17
Miller lettered three seasons for the Memphis football program and is one of the most decorated receivers in school history. During his career, he caught 238 passes for 3,590 yards and 37 touchdowns. He caught at least one pass in every game he played, is the only player in school history with over 3,000 yards receiving for his career, and holds school records for career receiving yards, touchdowns and receptions. In addition, he holds single-season records for receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns. He also holds single game records for most receptions in a game, most yards in a game and most touchdowns in a game.
Miller went on to be drafted 51st overall in the 2018 NFL draft to the Chicago Bears. He spent six seasons in the NFL on four teams (Chicago, Houston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh) and had seven receiving touchdowns during his rookie season, along with a career-high 52 receptions for 656 yards in his second season.
Clinton McDonald
Football | 2005-08
McDonald lettered four seasons at Memphis, being named a team captain in 2007 and 2008. Over his career, McDonald played in 48 games and made 33 starts. In 2007, McDonald the team Co-Defensive Player of the Year and named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference USA Team. In 2008, he finished third in Conference USA in sacks and tied for 20th in tackles for loss, earning recognition on the Conference USA First Team. McDonald was also named the Memphis John Bramlett Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, a team award given to the most outstanding defensive player during the season. He finished his Tiger career with 141 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks.
After his college career, he was drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. McDonald played 11 seasons in the NFL for 6 different teams (Cincinnati, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Denver, Oakland, Arizona). He played in 121 games and started 37 during his career. He had 279 tackles and 21 sacks in his professional career and was a Super Bowl Champion in 2014 with the Seattle Seahawks. He was also a team captain of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 and the Buccaneers' Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Nominee in 2017.
Dan Hermsmeier
Men's Rifle | 2010-14
Hermsmeier was one of the most decorated rifle student-athletes in school history. He was a seven-time first team All-American and a nine-time All-Great American Rifle Conference honoree. He posted career highs of 587 (smallbore) and 595 (air rifle) his senior season. He qualified three times for the NCAA Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2014, he led the Tigers to the programs best national team finish at fourth place at the 2014 NCAA Championships and placed 3rd in smallbore.
Off the range, Hermsmeier recognized as a two-time Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association All-Academic Team selection and a Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Rolle selection (two times – 2012, 2013) and a Tiger 3.0 Club member. He was four-year member of the US National Development Team and in 2011 was the USA Shooting Junior Air Rifle National Champion and earned a silver medal in the men's division.
Glynetha Davis
Women's Basketball | 1987-89
Davis only spent two seasons at Memphis, but she quickly left her mark on the program by leading the Tigers in scoring and rebounds in each of her two seasons. She sits at 8th in program history in career scoring (16.2) and her 60.3 shooting percentage during the 1988-89 season helped her to being named to the 1989 All-Metro Conference First Team. Davis was also named the Metro Conference Newcomer of the Year the season prior in 1988, when she was also named to the Metro Conference All-Tournament Team.
Davis was also a two-time Kitchens Unlimited – Litton Classic All-Tournament Team selection, including winning MVP of the tournament during the 1987-88 season. She also logged 17 20-plus point performances in her 55 games at Memphis.
Gwendolyn Woods
Larry O. Finch Award
Presented to a former student-athlete who has had a profound impact on his/her community since leaving the University of Memphis.
Gwendolyn Woods, a lifelong Memphian, graduated from the University of Memphis in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in communications. She was a member of the women's track and field team. Gwendolyn is now the first female CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Memphis.
Gwendolyn's commitment to youth and community development has earned her several accolades, including the prestigious BGCM Youth Development Professional of the Year award in 2020, recognizing her outstanding service and dedication to young people. She is also a recipient of the University of Memphis State 8 Award, which honors outstanding alumni for their professional achievements and community impact. Prior to her role as CEO, Gwendolyn served as Vice President of Operations, where she played a critical role in driving organizational growth, enhancing program delivery and expanding the reach of the Boys & Girls Club throughout Memphis. Her leadership has been marked by a commitment to the Club's mission: "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens."
Gwendolyn Woods is the founder of Bobbie's Kids, a nonprofit organization named in honor of her late mother. Inspired by her mother's legacy of compassion and service, Woods established the organization to support and uplift families and youth in the South Memphis community through outreach, resources, and community-driven initiatives.
Wes and Becky Kraker
Dr. Cecil C. Humphreys Golden Tiger Award
Presented to individuals for their financial support of Memphis Athletics.
Wes and Becky Kraker have deep roots embedded in the Memphis community, as Wes currently serves as President and CEO of Pathmark Transportation, a family-owned operation that he has spent 40 years building and overseeing the success of. Wes and Becky have given to Memphis athletics for over 30 years, becoming ambassadors in the Tiger Leadership Circle in 2015 with their leadership gift to the Time to Shine campaign, along with making a leadership gift to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
The pair often travel to support Memphis men's basketball and football on the road, and Wes is a graduate of the University of Memphis (then Memphis State), earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance and Economics degree from the university in 1985.
Marcus "Doc" Holliday
Billy J. Murphy Award
Presented to a former student-athlete who excelled in his/her profession since leaving the University of Memphis.
Holliday was a former football player at the University of Memphis (then Memphis State) from 1991-1994, finishing the 1994 season as Memphis' leader in rushing yards with 618 and three rushing touchdowns, while also setting Memphis' single-game rushing attempt record with 42 against Tulane, a record that still stands to this day.
He then went on to play for the St. Louis Rams of the NFL and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. Holliday is currently the Sports Director for Action News 5, covering Memphis athletics since September 1998.
Andy Brown
Ralph Hatley Silver M Award
Presented to a dedicated supporter who has given multiple years of exceptional service to Memphis Athletics.
Brown started working at Memphis on September 21, 2009, as a boiler operator and transitioned to a role in General Maintenance in 2020. He took on all the athletic buildings and even calls them, "his buildings". He has developed and maintained strong relationships throughout the athletic department. Brown is a dedicated employee, and he takes his role here at the UofM seriously.
Jeff Hopkins
Murray Armstrong Award
Presented to a Tiger coach, administrator or employee for distinguished service to Memphis Athletics.
Jeff Hopkins was a former Memphis State baseball player who went on to become the head coach from 1993-2000. He led Memphis baseball to its highest single-season win total of 52 games in 1994. Hopkins stands at third in all-time wins with 239 during his tenure at Memphis.
Hopkins is also the only player in program history to be a player, assistant coach and head coach at the UofM.
Catherine Chubb
Lynn Parkes Award
Presented to a former student-athlete who has had a profound impact on his/her community through Women's Athletics.
Catherine Chubb is a former Memphis women's soccer player (1995-96) and is still tied for the most assists in a single match by a Tiger. She recently served as the Division II West Tennessee representative on the TSSAA Legislative Council and won the TSSAA School System Administrator of the Year Award in 2024. She has served as the Division II West Region Coordinator for basketball, volleyball, soccer tennis and golf during her 22-year tenure as The Hutchison Schools' athletic director before assuming her new role as Assistant Head of School. During her tenure, Chubb brought the first girl's lacrosse program to Memphis in 2002 and increased athletic participation to where roughly 80 percent of Hutchison girls play at least one sport. Hutchison's athletic program was awarded the TSSAA A.F. Bridges Divisional Award under her leadership.
She has served on the University of Memphis M Club Board of Directors since 1998 and as president for three terms. She was inducted into the Memphis Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2023.
