NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Memphis (6-16, 1-2 American) baseball team dropped the rubber match to Tulane (13-12, 2-1 American), 12-2, Sunday afternoon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Memphis recorded seven hits on the day but was unable to keep pace with Tulane's late offensive surge, as the Green Wave scored six runs in the eighth inning to pull away and secure the series win.

Jack Little led the Tigers offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, while Trae Cassidy drove in a run and Freddy Rodriguez added a double and a stolen base.

On the mound, Seth Impson turned in a solid start, allowing just two runs on two hits across 5.0 innings. Davis Oswalt (1-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs in relief.

Memphis will return home for a five game homestand beginning Tuesday against Ole Miss. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Memphis struck first in the third inning when Trae Cassidy singled to left field to score Freddy Rodriguez, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Tulane answered in the fourth, plating two runs on an RBI double and a single to take a 2-1 advantage.
The Tigers evened the game in the sixth as Cade Hitson laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring home Tyler Harrington, tying the score at 2-2.
The Green Wave regained control in the bottom of the sixth, capitalizing on a Memphis error and timely hitting to score three runs and take a 5-2 lead.
Tulane added another run in the seventh before breaking the game open in the eighth with a six-run frame to extend the lead to 12-2 and end the game in run-rule fashion.
