- Charlotte answered in the bottom half after an error extended the inning before Todd Hudson launched a two-run homer to right field, giving the 49ers a 2-1 lead. Both runs were unearned.
- The 49ers created separation in the seventh, plating six runs on five hits and capitalizing on defensive miscues to build an 8-1 advantage.
- Memphis threatened in the ninth inning after Trae Cassidy, Webb Watson and Gabe Boyd each singled to load the bases. Hernandez later drew an RBI walk to bring home Cassidy, but the Tigers were unable to continue the rally.
