Case Named as American Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis LHP David Case was named as an honorable mention for the American Conference's Pitcher of the Week the conference announced Monday.

Case, a graduate student from Pasadena, Calif., outdueled American Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year Ethan Norby and shut down the East Carolina lineup in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Pirates. In 6.0 innings of work, Case allowed five hits and just one earned run while striking out six. He threw 106 pitches to earn the win, the highest single-game total of his career.

In his last six starts, Case has pitched at least 6.0 innings in each outing, with five quality starts (at least 6.0 innings pitched and three or fewer earned runs allowed). Over that span, he is 4-1 with 27 strikeouts.
