MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's soccer team closed out nonconference play with a 1-0 victory over Kansas City on Sunday night at the Track & Soccer Complex.

The Tigers (3-3-1) controlled the match throughout the night, holding 67 percent of possession and outshooting the Roos 32-3, including a 12-0 advantage in shots on goal. Memphis also held a 14-3 edge in corner kicks.

After more than 76 minutes of pressure, Memphis finally broke through when Evelyn Mackay found the back of the net off a cross from Ally Casey, with Abby Forsgren also picking up an assist. The goal was Mackay's second of the season and third of her career.

The Tigers' 32 shots were their most in a match since also recording 32 against Temple on Oct. 31, 2024, while their 12 shots on goal were their most since Oct. 19, 2025, at East Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Memphis controlled play from the opening whistle, holding Kansas City without a shot on goal while firing 11 attempts of its own in the opening 45 minutes.
The Tigers continued to apply pressure after halftime, recording 21 shots and 10 corner kicks in the second half.
Memphis finally found the breakthrough in the 77th minute. Casey delivered a cross into the box, where Mackay finished to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. Forsgren and Casey were both credited with assists on the goal.
The Tigers kept Kansas City from finding an equalizer over the final 13 minutes to secure their second shutout of the season.
Memphis finished the night with a 32-3 advantage in shots, a 12-0 edge in shots on goal and a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks.

NOTABLES

Mackay netted her second goal of the season and third of her career. She was a constant threat going forward, setting career highs with seven shots and five shots on goal.
Casey recorded her second assist of the season and third of her career with the cross that set up Mackay's winner.
Forsgren picked up her second career assist and fired a career-high seven shots.
Ellis Kelly finished with career highs in both shots (eight) and shots on goal (four).
Ava Galani earned her third win and second shutout of the season without having to make a save as Memphis held Kansas City without a shot on goal.
Mihiro Furuya played a career-high 84 minutes, recording two shots with one on target.
Marika Martineau provided a spark off the bench, finishing with career highs of two shots and one shot on goal in just 11 minutes.
Galani, Ava Gaida, Yuna Nagata, Ally Casey, Abby Forsgren, Natalie Dvorakova and Maira Boosman each played the full 90 minutes.
Memphis' 32 shots were its most in a match since recording 32 against Temple on Oct. 31, 2024.
