Men’s Tennis Opens 2026-27 Strong at Rocky Top Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2026-27 campaign kicked off this weekend for the Memphis men's tennis program when it competed in the Rocky Top Invite, hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Tigers posted a 7-3 record in doubles and went 13-8 in singles competition over the three-day event. They competed against Indiana, Louisville, Middle Tennessee and the host Tennessee.
Four Tigers went unbeaten on the weekend. Junior Marko Milosavljevic, sophomore Yannic Nittmann and senior Sam Reeve all went 4-0 with two wins in both singles and doubles. Sophomore Lasse Rensing finished 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
Memphis opened play Friday with a doubles victory from junior Loan Lestir and junior Benjamin Martin, who defeated Indiana's Scherer and Badlani, 6-3. Martin also earned a singles win for the Tigers, rallying past Indiana's Ariel Zauber, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Tigers went 4-1 in doubles and 5-3 in singles Saturday. Lestir, Milosavljevic, Martin, Nittmann, freshman Theodor-Matei Ene and Reeve each earned singles victories. Nittmann rallied for a three-set win over Tennessee's Shion Itsusaki, while Ene battled back from a set down to defeat Middle Tennessee's Eric Crivei in three sets.
Memphis closed the tournament Sunday with a 3-1 doubles record and a 6-2 mark in singles. Lestir, Martin, Milosavljevic, Nittmann, Reeve and Rensing each recorded singles victories. Reeve earned a pair of tiebreak wins to defeat Louisville's Artem Dmytrenko, while Nittmann and Milosavljevic each posted straight-set victories.
The Tigers will next compete on Monday, Sept. 28 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the M25 Event.
