Forsgren, Nagata Tabbed to American Conference Weekly Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas – University of Memphis women's soccer players Abby Forsgren and Yuna Nagata collected American Conference weekly honors on Monday, with Forsgren being named both Midfielder and Freshman of the Week and Nagata earning Defensive Player of the Week.
Forsgren, a freshman from Castro Valley, California, played a key role in the Tigers' attack throughout the week, contributing to four of Memphis' six goals across the two matches.
Against South Florida, Forsgren provided the opening goal in the 27th minute. Ai Kitagawa played the ball into Zerina Markovic, whose backheel found Forsgren in the box before the freshman finished past the goalkeeper to give Memphis a 1-0 advantage.
Forsgren followed with a career performance in Sunday's 5-0 victory at Florida Atlantic, recording three assists as the Tigers produced their highest-scoring match of the season. She set up Taliah Brooks for the opening goal in the 21st minute before assisting Ellis Kelly's strike in the 33rd minute. Forsgren added her third assist of the match on Grayson Williams' goal in the 75th minute.
Forsgren's three assists at Florida Atlantic are the most by a Tiger in a single match since All-American Stasia Mallin totaled four against Southeastern Louisiana on September 12, 2019.
Nagata helped anchor the Memphis defense across the pair of road conference matches. The Tigers allowed just one goal across the two contests, including a clean sheet in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Florida Atlantic.
The junior from Takarazuka, Hyogo, Japan, played a total of 171 minutes across both matches, helping Memphis limit its opponents to just six total shots and three shots on goal while contributing to a four-point week on the road.
