MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis cross country team opened its season at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Saturday evening. The women's team placed 12th, while the men finished ninth.

Reese McDevitt led the women's team as the sole Tiger in the top 50, placing 43rd with a time of 19:12.35. On the men's side, Robert Randall and James Marimbe secured top-30 finishes, placing 14th (20:01.39) and 27th (20:25.11), respectively.

Five Tigers recorded personal records during the season opener: Jasmine Williams, Brooke Doyle, Marimbe, Alex Bobak and Tyler Bickerman.
Memphis returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Rhodes Invitational at Shelby Farms Park.
