Outlook for 2007: Settled down the second half of the 2006 season and became a steady, everyday shortstop for the Tigers. Expect a breakout year from Michael as his familiarity with conference and the speed of the game at this level will be more consistent. Coaches like the quiet way he approaches the game everyday.
2006 (Junior): 2006 C-USA All-Tournament Team selection...Hit .538 (7-for-13) in the C-USA Tournament...Was Memphis' everyday shortstop in 2006...Made 55 starts in 59 appearances...Struggled early adjusting to Division I pitching, but settled in to hit .302 on the year...Collected 62 hits...Scored 46 runs and drove in 30 more...Roped seven doubles...Third on the squad with 11 stolen bases...Hit .500 with the bases loaded...Stepped up with 14 two-out RBI...Had 19 multi-hit outings and produced two or more RBI in eight contests...Was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI in a 9-8, 10-inning win at Marshall (4/9/06)...Went 2-for-4 with a bases loaded triple in the season finale against Rice (5/27/06)...Ended the year on a five-game hit streak.
