Oekerman joined the Memphis Athletic Department in March 2026 as the Assistant Director of Athletic Advising & Learning Services.

Prior to joining the Memphis staff, Oekerman most recently served as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at nearby Rhodes College, while also overseeing academic performance for the team. The Lynx men's lacrosse team won multiple national academic team awards and had two Academic All-American during his tenure.

Oekerman also spent time at Adrian College and Concordia University Wisconsin as an assistant men's lacrosse coach.

Oekerman, a native of Beaverton, Oregon, earned his bachelor's degree in business education from Concordia Wisconsin, where he was a two-time captain of the men's lacrosse team, helping lead the program to its first conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019.
