Ed Randolph joined the University of Memphis football team in 1957 after playing two seasons at the University of Mississippi.

Murphy. He was the recipient of the Best Defensive Player Award following his junior season and was also called one of the team's best blockers as an offensive guard.
In 1958, Randolph was voted captain of the Tiger football team and received the Most Valuable Player Award following the season. In addition, he was named the school's Most Outstanding Athlete for 1958-59. For his play during the 1958 season, Randolph was named to the Williamson's All-American Team and later received a letter from George Halas, Head Coach of the Chicago Bears, inviting the Memphis standout to consider playing for the Bears.
In November 1958, five former and current Memphis football head coaches were asked to vote for the all-time Tiger team from 1924-1958. Randolph was a unanimous selection as a defensive lineman.
Now living in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Randolph received the Billy J. Murphy Award in 1987.
