Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
"We all expected a little bit of a letdown in the first half. We came out and did some good things in the second half, but they've got good players. They've got good guard play, and they banged with us inside and beat us to every loose ball in the first half and most of them in the second half. Our team must be an effort team. Our team must be an unselfish team. In the first half, we reverted back to whoever get the ball tries to score and we're not going to win too many games (doing that)."
"They just played an emotionally-packed game against Marquette. This was going to be the hardest game of the year coming off that emotional win with no time to recover. But I don't want to take anything away from TCU. They played well. Every mistake we made, they made shots. I love the fact that we fought to get back into the game, and I thought we were going to win the game. Losing is disappointing."
"We probably shouldn't have had a guy on the ball (on the last play). By getting a running start, he (Santee) was able to get in that deep where he could make a runner."
TCU Head Coach Neil Dougherty
"Corey Santee made a great move behind his back to get the ball back to the middle of the floor to get a look. You can do that 50 more times and he would make one out of 50. The basketball gods were on our side today. Also Darius Washington did a great job pinning Santee on the sideline."
"Our team play is elevating the program itself. The kids are playing hard and to play Memphis the way we did makes me very happy."
"Santee is not the all time leading assist man at TCU for nothing. I thought once we got the ball in his hand the last two or three possesions we would be able to execute something. The possession before Marcus Shropshire was wide open in the lane but just came up a little short. That would not happen if Santee is not setting things up for us."
"We have not had the opportunity to say we have won two in a row in C-USA before. We have to handle that just like when we ran onto the floor. There are new things we have to learn as a group. I am glad we won today even with the technical foul. It is best to learn and win."
