• This is the fifth game between the two schools with Memphis now leading the series 3-2. All five meetings have been shutouts.
• Leandra Hines registered the first hit in the game for Memphis in the first inning. She then stole her team-leading 11th base of the season.
• Memphis is now 3-15 this season when the opponent scores first.
• Memphis is now 4-1 this season in Wednesday games.
• Kimmi Hayden threw out her eighth steal attempt of the year in the bottom of the third inning.
• Sara Schneider stole her third base of the season as a pinch runner in the top of the fourth inning. It is her first stolen base since February 23 against Alabama A&M.
• Leila Dolfo extended her hitting streak to three games with a single down the left line in the fifth inning.
• Memphis is now 2-11 this season when trailing after five innings.
• The 10 strikeouts by Tennessee State is the second time in a row Memphis has struck out at least 10 times in a game. The U of M Tigers struck out 15 against Houston on Sunday.
• TSU pitcher Amanda Vaught shutout Memphis for the second-straight time. Vaught threw a 1-0 victory against the U of M in Memphis last year.
