Vlasveld Paces Tigers With Sixth Place Finish at East Bay Deli Classic

Memphis finishes in seventh out of 15 teams at the final fall event
Kiawah Island, S.C. – The Memphis Tigers carded a team score of 294 in the final round of the East Bay Deli Classic at the Turtle Point Golf Course at Kiawah Island, S.C. to finish in seventh place overall. Memphis finished with a three-day total of 904 at the 15-team event.
Rodi Vlasveld ended his solid tournament with a one-under round of 71 to finish with a three-day total of 218 and a sixth-place finish. The sixth-place finish for Vlasveld is the best finish in his Memphis career. He ended the day with five birdies.
Brad Bawden and Borja Martin ended the day with a pair of 74's while Jordan Even carded a three-over 75. Chase Harris finished with a 76 and Nick Giles rounded out the squad with a 79. Martin finished in a tie for 33rd place.
Tennessee was crowned the team champion after finishing with a three-day score of 873. Jacksonville State finished eight strokes shy of the Volunteers and Chattanooga rounded out the top three 11 strokes off of the lead.
Art Griffin of host school Charleston Southern was the individual medalist with a three-under total of 213. Rhys Nevin-Wharton of Tennessee was the only other player under par with a one-under 215.
The Tigers will resume competition play on Feb. 26-27, 2018 in Hilton Head Island, S.C. at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
