No. 18/19 Memphis set for AAC semifinal

TAMPA, Fla. – After an impressive end to the regular season to earn a first-round bye in the American Athletic Conference tournament, No. 18/19 Memphis women's soccer turns its focus to semifinal action as the Tigers face UCF on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (CT).

Five Things to Know About Memphis
- Memphis posted a three-match winning streak to cap the regular season with 15 wins, the second-most regular-season victories in program history and the most since 2011 (18-0-1).
- The Tigers landed a program-record seven student-athletes to The American's postseason All-Conference teams. Serena Dolan, Olivia Gauthier, Marie Levasseur and Clarissa Larisey were named First Team All-Conference. Catherine Levasseur and Elizabeth Moberg were voted to the league's Second Team, while Tanya Boychuk was listed to the All-Rookie Team. Gauthier was also voted the conference's Defensive Player of the Year.
- Boasting one of the best offenses in the country, the Tigers rank fifth nationally in total goals (46), fifth in shots per game (20.33) and seventh in scoring offense (2.56 goals per game).
- Although the tournament is being played in Tampa, Fla., the Tigers are comfortable in games played away from Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The Blue and Gray are 10-0 in matches away from home this season, including a 9-0 mark in true road games.
- Memphis makes its sixth AAC tournament appearance, having made the league's postseason tourney every season as a member of The American. The Tigers are 3-5 all-time in AAC tournament games.
A Look at UCF
The UCF Knights advanced to the semifinal round after a 3-0 victory against Temple in the first round of the AAC Tournament on Wednesday. Kristen Scott scored the match's first two goals, and Stefanie Sanders added her 13th goal late in the second half to set the final.
Sanders' 13 goals lead the team offensively. Scott and Zandy Soree have also each yielded six goals, which is tied for second on the team in scoring.
Between the pipes, Vera Varis has stopped 49 shots against 18 goals allowed. Varis, who was voted the league's Goalkeeper of the Year, made three saves in the team's shutout against Temple on Wednesday.
