Sep 10, 2018 | Women's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Two Tiger standouts were honored by the American Athletic Conference on Monday, as sophomore forward Clarissa Larisey and senior defender Olivia Gauthier garnered the league's weekly awards.
Larisey earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades, Gauthier was listed to the conference's Honor Roll. Memphis shutout Samford to begin the week, the blanked Rice and Louisiana over the weekend at the Rice Tournament.
Larisey netted four goals in the Tigers' three victories last week, establishing a three-match scoring streak. The Ottawa, Ontario native scored twice in the 3-0 win against Samford, which was her second multi-goal performance of her career. The sophomore's seven goals this season top the league in scoring. Monday's honor is Larisey's second weekly recognition of her career, previously being named Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season.
Gauthier anchored a Memphis defense that helped pitch three shutouts throughout the week. The Tiger back line limited their opponents to just 19 shots, with only five coming on goal. The captain's honor is the fourth of her career and second league Honor Roll appearance.
Memphis returns to the pitch Thursday at Arkansas State to start the final weekend of non-conference action. Kickoff from Jonesboro, Ark., is set for 4 p.m.
