
Cheer Coed Team Wins Second National Championship in Three Years

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis coed cheer squad captured its second UCA Small Coed DI title in three seasons at the 2019 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships in Orlando, Saturday.
Coached by Tony Crump and working under spirit squad coordinator Carol Lloyd-Cross, this is the third national championship for the coed cheer squad. The team won its first title in 2013, claiming the Coed 1A championship. The squad then claimed the 2017 Small Coed championship before winning Saturday's finals.
Memphis finished first in the 12-team final round. Bowling Green State, Purdue, Hofstra, and the University of Delaware rounded out the top five finishers.
The Memphis Spirit Squads will wrap up their 2019 slate at the national events on Sunday. The IA Hip Hop finals will take place on Sunday.
