
Pom Squad Finishes Second at UDA Nationals

Squad adds another strong finish at nationals.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis pom squad finished as runners-up at the UDA national championships, Sunday in the Division IA hip hop category.
The pom squad, led by Carol Lloyd-Cross, finished less than a point behind winners UNLV. San Diego State, LSU and Cincinnati rounded out the top five finishers out of the eight-team finals.
Memphis was one of 15 teams to qualify for Sunday's final out of the Saturday semifinal round.
Fourteen-time national champs, the pom squad is part of the Memphis Spirit Squad program that also includes the national three-time co-ed cheer squad led by Tony Crump. The coed cheer squad won their third title on Saturday evening. The progam also includes Memphis' mascot, Pouncer.
Tryouts for the team are held each May on the UofM campus.
