ORLANDO, Fla. – In search for another American Athletic Conference win, the Tigers made the trip down to Florida to take on the 23^rdranked UCF Knights. Despite holding them to just two runs through five innings, Memphis would suffer the 4-0 loss in the series opener.

Following today's game, Memphis moves to 15-24 overall and 1-6 in AAC play.

How it happened:

UCF's offense would score runs in the bottom of the second, fourth and sixth innings.
The Tigers got their first base runner in the top of the first inning after Alyssa Dean drew a walk. Memphis would then see Gracie Morton reach base on a bunt to third base in the top of the third.
With two outs in the top of the fourth inning, Aliana Zavala drew a walk just before Linsey Hargis singled to center field to put Zavala in scoring position. But, the pitching of UCF's Gianna Mancha held steady as she recorded her fifth strikeout of the day to strand the runners.
The Memphis offense nearly got on the board in the top of the sixth inning after Zavala singled and advanced to second base off an error – and allowed Camryn Wineinger to move from first to third base. But, the Knight's defense fended off the Tiger's attempts to score once again.

Notables:

Alyssa Dean and Gracie Morton spent the most time on base today with Dean drawing two walks while Morton recorded a walk with her hit in the third inning.
Mikayla Hoschak got the start for today going 5.2 innings with one strikeout. Hallie Siems finished the remainder of the game.
