TULSA, Okla. – The University of Memphis volleyball team dropped their match to Tulsa after falling 3-1, on Friday night. The Tigers (8-20, 4-12 AAC) fought through the match, forcing a set four, however were unable to put together a win. The Tigers recorded 41 kills, 83 digs,11 blocks and two service aces in the match. Tulsa 3, Memphis 1 Set One <ul> <li>Memphis and Tulsa opened the set trading small runs back and forth, with the Golden Hurricane taking the slight lead into the media timeout. Jordan Heatherly and Tabytha Toelke put together multiple kills in the Tiger runs.</li> <li>Tulsa put together a 5-0 in the second half of the set, extending its lead off attacking errors from Memphis and kills from Kayley Cassaday and Tytiana Johnson. The Golden Hurricane went on to take the set 25-21.</li> </ul> Set Two <ul> <li>The Tigers and Golden Hurricane opened set two trading point for point. Memphis capitalized off Tulsa errors and kills from Reilly Briggs and Toelke.</li> <li>The Golden Hurricane put together a 5-0 midway through the set, taking the lead into the media timeout. Tulsa added four more points to its run before Memphis was able to break the streak.</li> <li>Tulsa closed out the set on a 5-1 run, putting up big performances at the net.</li> </ul> Set Three <ul> <li>Memphis and Tulsa went back and forth early in the set, kills from Briggs, Toelke and Heatherly keeping the Tigers competitive.</li> <li>The Tigers took the lead midway through the set, with Clara Bednarek stringing together three-straight kills.</li> <li>Memphis closed out the set 25-23, on a 3-0 run aided by a kill from Bednarek and solo block from Autumn Flynn.</li> </ul> Set Four <ul> <li>The Golden Hurricane began pulling away early in the set going on a quick 4-1 run, capitalizing off multiple kills and a service ace from Cassaday, forcing a timeout.</li> <li>Memphis climbed back in to take the lead after going on an 11-3 run, forcing a Tulsa timeout. The Tigers were assisted in their run by blocks from Briggs, Heatherly and Flynn along with kills from Briggs and Heatherly.</li> <li>Tulsa put together its own 10-3 run to close out the set, taking it 25-20. Kills from multiple Golden Hurricane sealed the victory.</li> </ul> Notables <ul> <li>Bednarek led the Tigers in kills with 10, followed by Briggs with nine and Heatherly with eight.</li> <li>Two Tigers managed a double-double in the match, Heatherly with 18 assists and 12 digs and Loren Robertson with 13 assists and 10 digs.</li> <li>Flynn led the Tigers in blocks with nine, her career high. She was followed by Briggs with five.</li> <li>Four Tigers recorded double digit digs: Toelke (22), Abigail Schlueter (19), Heatherly (12) and Robertson (10).</li> </ul> Up Next: The Tigers come back for their final home series against Temple Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18.
