Tigers Return Home for AAC Series with Houston

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team hosts Houston for a three-game American Athletic Conference series at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field this weekend with games scheduled for Friday night (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).
Memphis (19-18, 3-6) played a three-game series in Orlando with UCF last weekend where the Knights took two-of-three games with the Tigers.
The Cougars (21-16, 6-3) enter the matchup after winning a home conference series over South Florida last weekend and beating Houston Christian, 13-7, on Tuesday in Houston. Offensively, Houston is led by Zach Arnold (.341 BA, 8 HR, 31 RBI) and Malachi Lott (.352 BA,11 2B, 20 RBI). Houston leads the all-time series with Memphis, 56-26.
Left-handed pitcher Dalton Fowler was named AAC Pitcher of the Week on April 10 and has allowed just one run over his first three conference starts (19 innings) while striking out 31. On the year, Fowler has racked up 79 strikeouts – good for sixth most in the country.
First baseman Anthony Hansen has hit safely in 28-of-35 games this season and carries a team-high .312 average to go with a team-leading 10 home runs. The Columbia, Mo., native has driven in 24 runs and sports a team-high .412 on-base percentage.
Austin Baskin is just one-hit shy of Hansen for the team lead in hits (42) and is batting .296 with nine doubles on the year (tied for team lead), slugging seven home runs and knocking in 25 runs. In addition, Baskin has tallied a team-best 14 multi-hit games this season.
