Memphis Falls in Series Finale to Charlotte 3-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Memphis fell in its series finale to Charlotte 3-1 Saturday afternoon and dropped the series to the 49ers. The Tigers (5-12) were able to take set two of the match, avoiding the sweep however were unable to slow down the 49ers. Memphis hit a .201 clip, recording 53 kills along with 24 attacking errors. The Tigers also tallied 59 digs, seven aces and five blocks against Charlotte.

- Memphis and USF began the first set going back and forth with the 49ers took a slight lead over the Tigers into the media timeout in set one.
- The Tigers put together a 4-0 run out of the timeout, to close the gap to a one-point lead, aided by kills from Jordan Heatherly and Clara Bednarek.
- Memphis put together a small run to hold off Charlotte at set point, however the 49ers were able to push past to secure set one, 25-22.
- The Tigers and the 49ers exchanged points back and forth opening set two, with the 49ers holding the lead. Memphis went on a 4-0 run, with kills from Hannah Jones and Jordan Heatherly along with an ace from Catalina Martinez, forcing a Charlotte timeout.
- Memphis put together a couple of runs through the second half of the set, taking the lead and set 25-21. Bednarek put together back-to-back aces to help take the lead.
- Charlotte opened set three going on a 6-2 run, Memphis struggled to quench the momentum and was forced to call a timeout early.
- Memphis went on a 6-0 scoring run late in set three, forcing a Charlotte timeout, two service aces from Mackenzie Leach and kills from Jones aided in the run. The Tigers run would not be enough however as they dropped set three 25-22.
- Charlotte opened set four strong taking an eight-point lead capitalizing off Memphis errors and kills from Camryn Upshaw and Annika Thompson.
- The Tigers would put a 4-0 run together late in set, closing the gap, however would go on to drop the fourth set 25-19.
- Autumn Flynn led the Tigers with 12 kills, followed by Heatherly (11), Jones (10) and Bednarek (10) also hitting in double digits.
- Two Tigers hit over .400: Flynn (.478) and Bednarek (.429).
- Heatherly recorded a double-double with 25 assists and 11 kills in the match.
- Rylee Busse and Abigail Schlueter both recorded double digits digs, Busse with 14 and Schlueter with 11.
