Tigers Travel to Huntsville to Compete in Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Memphis Cross Country will head south for their second meet of the 2024 season, competing in the Southern Showcase on Friday morning.
Hosted by Jacksonville State, the meet will start with the men's 8k at 7:30 a.m. followed by a 5k on the women's side at 8:30 a.m. Over 50 colleges are competing in the meet.
"With one race under our belt, we should be ready to improve and compete at a higher level," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "We are looking to see continued and consistent improvement this week."
The Tigers' first competition of the season was at the Twilight Classic in Memphis. Senior Vincent Chenier recorded his best-ever finish in a cross-country meet, placing sixth in the four-mile run with a time of 20:16.74. Jalyssa Smith led the women with a time of 18:58.32 in the 5k, good for 19th place.
