Four Tigers Log Personal Bests at Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Memphis cross country team concluded their second meet of the season on Friday morning, logging finishes of 21st and 28th out of 47 schools for the men and women, respectively. Â
Vincent Chenier led the way again for the men, placing 76th out of 313 competitors with an 8k time of 25:22.16, the fourth-best time in his four-year career.Â
Robert Randall hit a personal-best time in the 8k with a time of 25:38.11, good for 103rd. Declan Byrne also hit his best 8k time en route to a 216th-place result.Â
Jalyssa Smith paced the Tigers on the women's side, placing 143rd out of 457 athletes. Reezon Eke shattered her 5k record by over a half-minute, crossing the finish line in 19:12.53 seconds. Cassidy Yaley also set a new personal record with a 5k time of 21:31.92.Â
The Tigers will spend a few weeks training before heading to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic on October 5.Â
