Chenier, Smith Place Second at Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Seniors Vincent Chenier and Jalyssa Smith of Memphis cross country both earned second-place finishes at the Rhodes Invitational on Saturday morning. It marked the best-ever finish in any event in their collegiate careers.Â
Chenier, who earned his best-ever cross country finish of sixth earlier this season, topped it with a time of 25:07.46 in the 8K. Smith finished the 5K with a time of 22:57.85 to earn her second finish of second place (Wash U Distance Carnival in March 2023).Â
As a team, both the men and women earned third out of 18 and 19 schools, respectively.Â
The duo was not the only top-10 runners for the Tigers at Shelby Farms: Ann-Marie Braese finished fifth with a time of 23:28.27, and Robert Randall finished seventh, finishing the 8K in 25:41.64. Reezon Eke placed ninth with a time of 23:46.94.Â
