No. 7/7 Tigers Welcome Kansas State
Sep 06, 2024 | Women's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 7/7 Memphis women's soccer team will host Kansas State on Sunday morning in their fifth match of the season. Kicking off at 10:00 a.m., the contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Tigers (4-0) will look to remain perfect on the young season; only ten teams in Division I are yet to pick up a blemish on their record. Their 4-2 victory over Iowa State last Sunday gave them their 14th consecutive road win and earned Anna Hauer an AAC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Kansas State (3-2-1) arrives in the 901 from Jonesboro, Arkansas, where they played Arkansas State to a scoreless draw on Thursday night. They recently took a trip out West, defeating Portland State, 2-0, and losing to Gonzaga.
Memphis faced off with the Wildcats for the first time in 2023, snatching a 1-0 victory away from home. Momo Nakao scored a 66th-minute goal with Ashley Henderson providing the assist in what became the second victory of a 17-game winning streak.

Tiger Tidbits
- Kansas State, who has only allowed five goals in their opening six contests, will have their hands full trying to defend a Tiger offense that has 13 goals in four matches. Memphis recently put four past fellow Big-12 opponent Iowa State, doing so in just 56 minutes.
- Coach Brooks Monaghan and Kansas State coach Mike Dibbini have exactly 303 wins as women's soccer coaches. Dibbini picked up a majority of his wins with Kansas Wesleyan, while Monaghan has collected all 303 as a Memphis Tiger.
- The Tigers' 4-0 start is already the third-best start to a season in program history. The 2017 team won their first six matches, and the 2011 squad won 12 in a row before taking a draw, en route to a 22-1-1 season that saw them pick up their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory over UT Martin.
- Memphis will be looking to extend their winning streak at home to 15 games, the longest in the country. When they travel to Knoxville to take on Tennessee on Thursday, Sept. 12, they will be defending their nine-game road winning streak, also the longest in the country.
