Tigers Set School Record in Season Opener Against No. 1 West Virginia

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 10-ranked University of Memphis rifle team set a program record in smallbore on the first day of the 2025-26 season in a 4745-4718 loss to No. 1 West Virginia at R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range in Memphis.
The Tigers posted a program record 2347 in smallbore and a 2371 in air rifle, while the Mountaineers shot 2351-2394.
Junior Katrina Demerle led the way for the Tigers on Saturday, finishing third overall with an aggregate score of 1185, matching her career high. She posted team-best totals in both relays, including a career-high 590 in smallbore and a 595 in air rifle
"Today was a great start to our season, especially shooting a program record in smallbore," head coach Morgan Wilson said. "I'm very proud of how hard the team has been pushing themselves and today goes to show that. We had a couple of personal bests in Katrina and Tanner (Barth) which was also very exciting to see. We're all ready to keep working hard over the next week and see what we can do in Ohio next weekend."

- Junior Gabriela Zych was second for Memphis, and fifth overall, with an aggregate of 1181. She carded the second-best total for the Tigers in smallbore (589) and fifth in air rifle (592).
- Junior Kenlee Ewton finished ninth overall with an 1177 aggregate. After posting the fifth-highest total overall in smallbore (586), Ewton a 591 in air rifle.
- Sophomore Megan Jaros placed 10th overall with an 1175 aggregate behind a 582 in smallbore and 593 in air rifle.
- Junior Tanner Barth also posted a career-best in smallbore with a 575. His previous high was 568.
