Lewis, Wilson Earn American Conference Weekly Awards Nod

IRVING, Texas – Two University of Memphis football players earned weekly conference honors this week with Brendon Lewis and Kamari Wilson both being named as Honorable Mentions, the American conference announced Monday.
Lewis, a redshirt senior out of Dallas, Texas, had an impressive stat line in the team's win over Rice last week. The play caller went 18-for-22 with 225 yards in the air and added in a team-high 87 yards on the ground. Lewis went on the score his eighth rushing touchdown of the season on the team's first drive of the game.
This is the third conference honor for Lewis this season.
Wilson, a redshirt junior out of Fort Pierce, Fla., helped shut down the Owl's offense last week when he totaled 11 tackles, five of them being solo, while adding in 3.0 tackles for loss for 12 yards. Wilson also added in a forced fumble and a recovery to give Memphis the ball early in the first quarter.
This is the first conference honor for Wilson this season.
The No. 22/23 Tigers are back in action this Friday night when they take on the Green Wave of Tulane. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. CT with coverage available on ESPN.
