
Zych Headlines Memphis’ All-GARC Honorees

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 10-ranked University of Memphis rifle team racked up the All-Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) honors Friday evening, the league office announced.
Gabriela Zych was named honorable mention All-GARC in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate, while Katrina Demerle was honorable mention in smallbore, Kenlee Ewton was honorable mention in air rifle and Sophia Cruz was Memphis' honoree as Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a second-straight season.
The Tigers enter the GARC Championship ranked No. 10 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll and have posted wins over No. 13 Army and No. 15 Jacksonville State this season, as well as two separate victories over UT Martin when the Skyhawks were ranked No. 18 and No. 19, respectively.
Both Zych (smallbore) and Ewton (air rifle) earned alternate spots in the NCAA Championships earlier this week before adding more hardware on Friday.
On the year, Zych is averaging 585 in smallbore, 594.8 in air rifle and 1179.8 in aggregate. Ewton has posted a 594.2 air rifle average, while Demerle is shooting 58.75 in smallbore.
No. 10 Memphis heads to Morgantown, West Virginia to compete in the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships from Saturday, March 1 through Sunday, March 2. Live targets can be found HERE.
