Memphis Falls to South Florida in Series Opener

HOW IT HAPPENED
- USF took a lead in the first inning after reaching on a fielding error that allowed Olivia Elliott to score.
- Elliott had led of the game with a double and advanced to third with an error in the outfield.
- Memphis took advantage of an error by South Florida, with a Drue Thomas bunt resulting in a three-base error with Zoe Adebayo scoring on the play.
- Thomas scored two batters later on a single by Faith Brown.
- A sacrifice fly off the bat of Olivia Elliott tied the game in the bottom of the second inning.
- The next batter, Alexa Galligani, singled to score Allana Consolazio and give USF a one-run lead after two innings.
- The third inning featured the third and fourth lead changes of the inning.
- Memphis regained the lead with a two-RBI single by Ariel Davis to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Tigers.
- The Bulls ended the inning with a three-run lead after putting up four runs in the bottom half of the frame.
- A solo home run by Alanah Rivera tied the game before RBI singles by Allana Consolazio and Alexa Galligani brought home three runs.
- In the fourth inning, the Bulls plated one run on a Memphis error.
- A two-run single by Alex Wilkes in the fifth inning gave USF its ninth and 10th runs of the contest.
- Memphis did not have a batter reach base during the final two innings as Belle Sardja and Anna Long combined to retire the final seven Tiger batters.
- Memphis is now winless in its last seven conference games.
- The Tiger offense attacked South Florida pitcher, Payton Dixon, as she only lasted 2.0 innings in the circle, which is tied for her shortest start in American Athletic Conference play.
- Rylee Dugar moves to 5-9 on the season after going 2.2 innings in the loss.
- Arianna Cox-Cole extends her active hitting streak to six games with a double in the contest.
- Ariel Davis went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI single that puts her RBI total at 19 on the season.
- Drue Thomas finished with one hit in two at-bats while reaching on a bunt that resulted in a three-base error and scoring later in the inning.
- Faith Brown went 2-for-3 with a ground-rule double and one RBI.
- Presley Morris finished 1-for-1 in her fifth start of the season.
